This documentary film chronicles the involvement of Matthew Rolston Creative Inc. in the development of The Redbury hotel brand. It includes interviews with Creative Director Matthew Rolston, sbe Entertainment Group CEO Sam Nazarian, sbe Entertainment Group Executive Vice President of Operations Nikki Mark and sbe Entertainment Group Vice President of Development Joe Faust. Written and produced by Matthew Rolston and directed by David Holm, utilizing historic reference, design drawings and more, the film paints a diverse picture of the brand-making process.


The Redbury Hotel, located at the historic intersection of Hollywood & Vine, in Hollywood, California, is a 52-room boutique property catering primarily to the creative communities of entertainment, advertising and fashion. Matthew Rolston Creative, Inc. served as the hotel brand’s Creative Director, overseeing all aspects of the brand’s creation, from naming to design. This portfolio of property photography shows the visual breadth of the brand, featuring inspirations as diverse as Victorian-era architecture, 1970s era psychedelic music and vintage Hollywood memorabilia.


Mood boards are a primary visual communication tool in the development of brand identity and design. This presentation contains the original visioning ‘mood boards’ for The Redbury hotel in Hollywood, California, a 52-room boutique property catering to creative types from the worlds of entertainment, fashion and advertising. This document was created early on in the development process, and sets (among many other things) the brand ‘codes’, tone, naming, logo and atmosphere for the property. It serves as the brand’s visual ‘DNA’.
